The Last Hurrah!

For all practical purposes, Spring Break 2006, South Padre Island version is over. Texas schools and colleges are back in session and the Island is taking on it's sleepy, in between season. Oh, there are a few colleges here this week, including Columbia College in Chicago, featuring our grandson Dylan and his friend Holly. More on that later!

The beer kegs seem to be getting heavier, but the hot tub exuberance is still present and the heavy weekend crowd will soon give way to more manageable end of the season breakers. By all accounts, this event was 'slow.' Mexico traffic was way down, Radisson crowds were down (although security was even more present . . . hmmm!) and noise at my 12th floor observation post was easily within the acceptable range. The weather was perfect, merchants are waiting for the bottom line and our parking lot has returned to normal. Time to head back to Michigan? Yes, but only reluctantly . . . as is just about every transition I make in life!
